Further detail on how to complete the listing form

Whilst we have tried to make the form as simple as possible to follow we have included some further explanatory notes here to help.

The more information that you can provide the more helpful it is for any potential buyers.

    • First Name
    • Last name

First name and last name (This information will not be visible on the front of the website, This is only for internal and payout purposes)

  • Name of millinery

This is to create a product title for your millinery. As a seller, you want to grab the attention of the buyer but also make it very clear what you are selling, mention if it is a hat/ fascinator / saucer e.t.c, colour and any key detail that may make it stand out.

Choose a clear, descriptive title (e.g. Navy & Gold Fascinator with Feathers).

  • Description of hat

This is where your listing comes alive—take your time here:

  • Title – Choose something clear and descriptive (e.g. “Navy Sinamay Fascinator with Feathers”)

  • Colour – Be as specific as possible (e.g. deep royal blue with silver trim)

  • Materials & Embellishments – e.g. sinamay, silk flowers, feathers, veiling

  • How it’s worn – Does it have a comb, elastic, headband, clip or is it free-standing?

  • Occasions – e.g. weddings, race day, garden party

  • Size - Include any measurements, brim width / head size e.t.c

  • Main colour of hat

Please write the main colour of the hat, it it is several tones, please choose the most dominant colour.

  • Fixing to the head

Select as many of the options that are relevant to keeping the hat on heads. so potential buyers can understand how it stays on the head.

  • Does your millinery come with it's original branded Beverley Edmondson millinery Hat Box?

It doesn't matter if it does or doesn't come with it's original hat box, it is just helpful for buyers to know there expectations.

  • Selling price

This price you wish to sell the hat for. This is totally up to you how much you list it for, but we have laid out a guide below to help come up with your pricing.

  • Set a fair and competitive price based on the hat’s condition. We would recommend listing for approx. 60% of purchase price if it is perfect condition/and reduce down from that depending on the condition it is in and the age of the piece.
  • Include any postage costs to send the hat to the buyer within the price
  • Don’t forget we take a 25% + VAT (30% total) from each sale from the price you set.
  • Compare with similar listings for guidance.
  • The lower the price the higher chances are of a quicker sale.

An example of how pricing and commission costs will work:

Original purchase price £150

Preloved sale price (60%) £90

Beverley Edmondson Millinery Preloved Commission (30%) £27

Your final takings once sold: £63 minus any postage costs incurred for postage.

  • Condition of your millinery

So that potential buyers understand if they are buying something, as new or slightly worn, it is key to be able to make it clear what condition the millinery is in

  • Please note down any particular flaws, marks or issues

If you have marked anything other than as new or worn once (perfect condition) Please further describe your reasoning for a lower condition rating.

  • Upload High-Quality Photos

Photos are crucial in attracting buyers.

You must upload a minimum of 5 photographs

You can add up to 10 images of a maximum combined size of 1MB
✅ Front, back, and side views of the hat.
✅ At least one photo on a mannequin, person or model to show fit.
✅ Close-ups of details if relevant (feathers, embellishments, veiling).
✅ Images of any faults or flaws, if applicable.

If you are uploading photos of you wearing the hat at an event in the past, please make sure you also include a current photo showing the current condition.

N.B. DO NOT UPLOAD SELFIES. Selfies flip the image around meaning that the hat would look the opposite way round to what it is in real life

Photo Tips:

  • Use natural daylight or soft lighting.
  • Keep the background clean and neutral.
  • Ensure images are sharp and clear.

Please note that if photographs are not of high enough quality your listing may be denied. The quality of your photographs is very important to be able to receive sales. We also have to ensure a level of quality on our site for our brand image and to encourage buyers, any photos that do not meet our guidelines will not be rejected.

Please note that if you are using photos belonging to a professional photographer, please ensure you have the correct copyright approval to use the images before uploading.

  • When an order comes through you will receive an email informing you of the sale
  • If you receive an order, please send out the hat or fascinator within 7 days

Step 3: How to Dispatch your Sale

  • An order email will contain the buyers address, phone number and email address, these details must only be used in completing activity for this sale. We will also include a second form at this point https://forms.gle/LcP9s7dJqZNCF81r7

Please send all orders within 7 days of receiving the email. if you can not send with in this time please let us know asap, so we can let the buyer know and find out if they can wait, or if we need to reverse the order.

  • To pack the hats we recommend, placing the hat in the original hat box and surrounding it so it can not move around with tissue paper or bubble wrap or other packaging materials. Place the hat box inside another box - the original hat boxes are not strong enough to withhold the postal system, so will need an extra layer of cardboard for protection.
  • For single items we find that Royal mail is usually the best courier to use for the larger items
  • Use a tracked service so that it can be followed up/compensated if anything goes wrong
  • When an order is received you will receive the buyers address, email and contact number. If you see the address is local, please feel free to get in contact and arrange in person collection/delivery, if you would rather.
